Super Simple Crafts for Little Ones
Easy craft ideas for small hands.
Goggly Eyes on Everything
One of the easiest crafts requires minimal additional supplies. In this instance, all you need is a pack of edible googly eyes. You can attach them to any object using glue, which can also be edible. The kids are sure to find this activity incredibly amusing!
Conker Ghosts
Put a conker in the center of a piece of tissue paper about the same size, secure it with a string, and paint black hole eyes to make the ghost. It’s very easy for small hands to do.
Mummified Butternut Squash
Choose a butternut squash or another hard-skinned vegetable, even a pumpkin, and wrap it in white adhesive tape in a mummy-style. Use a black marker pen to add eyes and other details.
Halloween Bunting
You can either create your own design or download a printable, depending on your skill level. Then, simply affix them to a long piece of string using glue or by punching holes in them for the string.
Spider Soup
Spider soup, anyone? There’s five great Halloween activities for toddlers on Sophie’s Nursery and they are all adorable, but I picked this really creative game which great for their gripping muscles.
Recycling Crafts
Utilize what you possess and transform it into art!
Ghostly Milk Ghouls
These are a great way to recycle your milk bottles! All you need is milk bottles, permanent markers and battery operated tea lights. This idea comes from A Rose Tinted World and I love it for the extra spookiness factor of it!
Ghost And Bat Bunting
Have too many eggs boxes going into the recycling bin? Why not turn them into some spooky crafts first? Check out this fun bunting from Blue Bear Bear
Ghost Pickle Jars
Feel free to use any empty jars – the lingering pickle scent can actually add a unique touch! But on a serious note, larger jars work great for outdoor use. Simply wrap them in orange or white tissue paper and place a tea light inside. For safety, consider using a LED tea light. Additionally, create black triangle shapes for eyes and mouth. If you attach a string to the jar’s mouth, it can also be hung from tree branches. This method provides an exceptional and eco-friendly decoration option.
Make Your Own Spooky Yard Sign
For this project, you will require pieces of wooden planks like pallet planks. Break these planks into smaller pieces and use a hammer to attach another piece to the flat portions. These pieces will be inserted into the ground. It’s important that an adult assists and supervises this process. Use white paint (any thick paint will work) to paint eerie messages onto the signs. Let your creativity run free! Red paint can be used to create the effect of blood stains.
Toilet Paper Roll Craft
Toilet paper rolls are always a great and cheap way to create children’s craft and why not recycle them? There’s plenty of ways you can create Halloween crafts with them : Curious and Geeks has a bit of a selection on her blog. I love them all but my favourite has to be the cute bat.
Bake and Make Some Spooky Treats
Halloween Pizza
Find the recipes here to make your own pizza base and sauce:

Homemade Pizza Sauce With Extra Veggies Recipe
With the aid of Halloween-themed cookie cutters, you can cut out shapes from sliced cheese and ham for decoration. You could also use black olives to mimic spiders or arrange cheese strings into the shape of a spider web. These are just a few examples.
Food-Colour Fun
Even if you don’t have the time to bake from scratch (but if you do, here’s a simple cupcake recipe) you can just buy the icing sugar and a food colouring to make these bright orange and spooky black frosting. Here’s how to make frosting.
Vanilla frosting:
- 420g icing sugar
- 225g of margarine, vegan butter, or real butter
- 1tsp vanilla extract
Simply add the amount of food coloring you deem necessary as different brands have varying strengths. Some may only require a few drops, while others may need half the tube or bottle.
Hot Dog Mummies
You will need:
1 package of pre-rolled puff pastry
hot dogs (vegan or traditional)
Goggly eyes that can be eaten (twice the amount of the hot dogs)
sharp knife
Method:
Begin by rolling out the pastry. An adult should then cut it into strips, one thicker and two thinner for each hot dog. The children can then dry each hot dog using a paper kitchen towel. Next, wrap the hot dogs with the pastry strips. Place them into the pre-heated oven for 12-15 minutes. Once they are out of the oven and cool enough to handle, add the googly eyes.
Halloween Bark Bar
Making this spooky bark bar is incredibly easy and a great activity to do with kids. Plus, the end result is impressive. Just melt a few chocolate bars and pour the mixture into a shallow baking dish. After smoothing it out, add a sprinkle of your favorite sweets, sprinkles, nuts, etc. Try to use a lot of red, orange, and green for a festive touch!
Halloween Brownies
Numerous methods exist for creating Halloween brownies.
- mix in orange coloured (or green) food colouring or top it with orange coloured cheesecake layer
- Apply white sugar paste on the slices in a spiderweb pattern.
- Place edible googly eyes and Halloween sprinkles on top of them.
Edible Witch Wands
Such a simple yet brilliant idea from Daisies and Pie They are also perfect for Halloween parties and trick or treating. And of course a great way to get the children involved because you know… breadsticks and chocolate! I’m sure they won’t say no to those!
Squashed Spider Cookies
You can make your own cookies (how about this Vegan Peanut Butter Cookies) or decorate store bought ones.
You will need:
An equal amount of chocolate bonbons and cookies (such as Reese’s Mini Peanut Butter Cups)
Double amount of edible googly eyes
Chocolate sauce or melted chocolate
Position the bonbons at the center of the cookie (you may slightly melt it for better adhesion), fix the eyes using edible glue, and create 8 legs radiating outwards using melted chocolate (a toothpick would be helpful for this task).
Halloween Movie Popcorn
This is something the kids will absolutely enjoy creating! Just combine popcorn with pieces of Halloween candy, nuts, pretzels, chocolate buttons, or dried fruit.
Pumpkin Chock Chip Cookie Monsters
I’m making these this year again due to the popular demand! This year I will try to get both children involved – wish me luck! Pumpkin Chock Chip Cookie Monsters
Spider Cupcakes

Trick and Treat Them
I’m talking about the kids! Create these eerily adorable fruit treats and hopefully, they’ll gobble them all up! You can make any, but here are a few suggestions:
- banana ghosts
- satsuma pumpkins
- sliced apple monsters
Homemade Granola Bar Mummies
These are so much fun to make with your little people. The granola bars themselves take about 50 minutes to make and there’s no refined sugar added – I’m not saying they are super healthy but not that bad either. It’s also a good way to save the pumpkin carving remnants and turn them into something yummy. Here’s my recipe.
Marshmallow Ghosts Sitting on Biscuits
Start by placing an extra large marshmallow atop a biscuit. Prepare a runny sugar paste by mixing icing sugar with water until you achieve the desired consistency. Pour this paste over the marshmallow and allow it to dry. Finally, use melted chocolate to create eyes and a mouth.
